An activist has been detained for 16 days for writing a comment
October 30, 2025, Mohammed Qurbani, a prominent activist in Chamchamal, has been detained for two weeks and the security forces have not given any explanation to the public. He should be released on bail immediately.
“His son went to the security forces and we were informed that he had been arrested under the law prohibiting the misuse of communication devices,” said Rauf Qurbani, the father of the detainee. “They told me he would be released on Wednesday. I don’t know why they won’t release him today and say Wednesday,” he said.
He said that as his family did not want to publish any explanation on the arrest of their son, so as not to complicate the case and release, but has not been released for two weeks.
The Kurdish Intellectuals Organization in the UK has called for the release of Mohammed Qurbani, who has been detained for two weeks, on bail.
Mohammed Qurbani, a prominent activist in Chamchamal, constantly posts critical posts on social networks about the poor services and general situation in Chamchamal.
