After being missing for 35 hours, the fate of Jutyar Rasul, a reporter for Paitech Media, has been revealed. It has been confirmed that he is being held by security forces.

Details of the Arrest

According to an official statement from the Paitech Media Foundation, their reporter, who covers the Ranya and Pshdar regions, was arrested by the Sulaymaniyah General Asayish (Security). Technical tracking of his phone confirmed his last known location was in the Qalawe neighborhood and on the Malik Mahmoud Circular Road in Sulaymaniyah.

Reason for Detention

The media outlet stated that Jutyar Rasul was detained while traveling to cover the third anniversary of the Smaquli Valley protests. He was subsequently transferred to an Asayish prison in Sulaymaniyah. His mobile phone remained active until 7:36 AM today, April 29, 2026, before being switched off.

Demands of Paitech Media

In its official statement, the foundation highlighted several key points:

• Accountability: They hold the Sulaymaniyah General Asayish fully responsible for the safety and well-being of their reporter.

• Immediate Release: They demand the immediate and official disclosure of his legal status and his swift release, asserting that he has committed no illegal acts.

• Appeal to Human Rights Organizations: They call upon press freedom watchdogs and human rights organizations to intervene and pressure authorities to end this detention.

Paitech Media emphasized that their reporter was merely performing his professional duties and that his arrest is a blatant violation of the Press Law.
