Our organization, the “Kurdish Intellectuals Organization in the UK,” expresses its deep concern over the continuous pressure and threats against journalist Muhammad Fatih. We strongly condemn the unjust treatment he is subjected to by both the authorities in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region. As part of our follow-up, journalist Muhammad Fatih revealed the facts and details of these threats to our organization by answering several questions.
Background and Journalist Information
Muhammad Fatih began his journalistic career in 1999 as a news presenter and reporter in both Kurdish and Arabic at the “Dangi Azadi” (Voice of Freedom) radio station in Chamchamal. He denies ever being a member of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, stating instead that he was an active member of the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate.
However, according to him, he was expelled from the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate and his name was removed due to an “arbitrary decision based on narrow political and partisan motives.” This was done under the pretext that he was a member of the Iraqi Syndicate, despite the claim having no basis in truth and serving merely to block his independent work.
Regarding his work in the media, he noted that most of his contributions were within Kurdish media. On the Iraqi national level, he only worked for the Kurdish section of Al-Iraqiya TV in Kirkuk and Baba Gurgur Radio. In recognition of his independent positions, he was awarded an honor award by the International Journalists Support Committee in Baghdad.
Details of Recent Threats
Regarding the emergence of new threats from Iraqi officials and figures, Muhammad Fatih clarified:

After receiving a promise from Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi (Head of the office of Ali Zaidi, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Iraq) that his rights in the Iraqi Syndicate would be restored, Shiite officials expressed opposition to this step.

Following the retraction of this promise by Zaidi’s office, Muhammad Fatih published a critical article targeting the Iraqi government in a WhatsApp group.

Consequently, he was subjected to insults, threats of arrest, and fabricated accusations of being a “Ba’athist” by advisors and officials within the group.
Past Violations and Denial of Justice
These current threats are part of an ongoing series of past persecutions. Muhammad Fatih disclosed that between 2021 and 2023, he was arrested by Sulaymaniyah Security (Asayish) over an article, where he faced abuse, and his home was raided with its door broken down (an incident broadcasted by international media outlets such as Alhurra).
Regarding taking legal action, the journalist stated:
“I have not filed any legal complaint, nor will I, because the threatening party holds power and consists of government advisors. Given the silence of state institutions, they would impose the Ba’athist accusation on me. Due to five years of continuous persecution, I lack the financial means to hire a lawyer, and I fear that instead of punishing those making threats, I would be the one arrested.”

ڕێکخراوەکەمان، «ڕێکخراوی ڕۆشنبیرانی کورد لە بەریتانیا»، نیگەرانیی قووڵی خۆی لەسەر گۆشار و هەڕەشە بەردەوامەکان بۆ سەر ڕۆژنامەنووس محەمەد فاتیح دەردەبڕێت و بە توندی ئیدانەی ئەو پەیڕەوکارییە ناڕەوایە دەکات کە لەلایەن دەسەڵاتدارانی بەغدا و هەرێمی کوردستانەوە بەرامبەری دەکرێت. لە چوارچێوەی بەدواداچوونەکانماندا، ڕۆژنامەنووس محەمەد فاتیح ڕاستییەکان و وردەکاریی ئەو هەڕەشانەی لە ڕێگەی وەڵامدانی چەند پرسیارێکەوە بۆ ڕێکخراوەکەمان ئاشکرا کرد.
زانیاری و پاشخانی کاری ڕۆژنامەنووسی
محەمەد فاتیح لە ساڵی 1999ەوە وەک بێژەر و هەواڵساز بە زمانەکانی کوردی و عەرەبی لە ئێزگەی «دەنگی ئازادی» لە چەمچەماڵ دەستی بە کاری ڕۆژنامەنووسی کردووە. ناوبراو ڕەتیدەکاتەوە کە هەرگیز ئەندامی سەندیکای ڕۆژنامەنووسانی عێراق بووبێت، بەڵکو ئەندامی کارای سەندیکای ڕۆژنامەنووسانی کوردستان بووە.
بەڵام، بەپێی وتەی خۆی، “بە بڕیارێکی تەعەسوفی و بە هۆکاری سیاسی و حزبی بەرتەسک” لە سەندیکای ڕۆژنامەنووسانی کوردستان دەرکراوە و ناوەکەی سڕدراوەتەوە، بەو بیانووەی کە ئەندامی سەندیکای عێراقە، لەکاتێکدا ئەو بڕیارە هیچ بنەمایەکی ڕاستی نەبووە و تەنها بۆ ڕێگریپێکردنی بووە لە کاری سەربەخۆ.
لەبارەی کارکردنی لە میدیاکاندا، ناوبراو ئاماژەی بەوە کرد کە زۆرینەی کارەکانی لە میدیا کوردییەکان بووە و لە سەر ئاستی عێراقیش تەنها لە بەشی کوردیی کەناڵی (العراقیة) لە کەرکووک و ڕادیۆی (باباگورگور) کاری کردووە. لە بەرامبەر هەڵوێستە سەربەخۆکانیدا، لە لایەن «لیژنەی پاڵپشتی ڕۆژنامەنووسانی نێودەوڵەتی» لە بەغدا خەڵاتی شەرەفی پێبەخشراوە.
وردەکاریی هەڕەشەکانی دوایین قۆناغ
سەبارەت بە سەرهەڵدانی هەڕەشە نوێیەکان لەلایەن کەسایەتی و دەسەڵاتدارانی عێراقییەوە، محەمەد فاتیح ڕوونیکردەوە:
پاش ئەوەی لەلایەن عەبدولزەهرە ئەلهینداوی (بەڕێوەبەری نووسینگەی عەلی زەیدی، ڕاوێژکاری سەرۆک وەزیرانی عێراق) بەڵێنی پێدرا بوو کە مافەکانی لە سەندیکای عێراق بۆ بگەڕێننەوە، بەرپرسانی شیعە دژایەتی خۆیان بۆ ئەم هەنگاوە دەربڕی.
دوای پاشگەزبوونەوەی نووسینگەی زەیدی لە بەڵێنەکەیان، محەمەد فاتیح لە گرووپێکی واتساب وتارێکی ڕەخنەیی بەرامبەر حکومەتی عێراق بڵاوکردەوە.
ئەمەش بووە هۆی ئەوەی لەلایەن ڕاوێژکاران و بەرپرسانی ناو گرووپەکەوە رووبەڕووی سووکایەتی، هەڕەشەی دەستگیرکردن و تۆمەتی دروستکراوی “بەعسیبوون” ببێتەوە.
پێشێلکارییەکانی ڕابردوو و بێبەشکردن لە دادپەروەری
ئەم هەڕەشانەی ئێستا بەشێکە لە زنجیرەیەک جەوساندنەوەی پێشووتر؛ محەمەد فاتیح ئاشکرای کرد کە لە نێوان ساڵانی 2021 بۆ 2023 لەلایەن ئاسایشی سلێمانییەوە لەسەر وتارێک دەستگیرکراوە و ڕووبەڕووی سووکایەتی بوەتەوە، هەروەها ماڵەکەی هێرشی کراوەتەسەر و دەرگای ماڵەکەی شکێنراوە (کە لە میدیا نێودەوڵەتییەکانی وەک کەناڵی ئەلحوڕە پەخشکرا).
سەبارەت بە پەنابردن بۆ یاسا، ڕۆژنامەنووسەکە گوتی:
“هیچ سکاڵایەکم تۆمار نەکردووە و تۆماریشی ناکەم، چونکە لایەنی هەڕەشەکار خاوەن دەسەڵات و ڕاوێژکاری حکومەتە و بە بێدەنگبوونی دامەزراوەکان، تۆمەتی بەعسی بوونم بەسەردا دەسەپێنن. بەهۆی 5 ساڵ چەوساندنەوە توانای ماددیم نییە بۆ پارێزەر، و ترسی ئەوەشم هەیە لە بری سزادانی هەڕەشەکاران، خۆم دەستگیر بپڕێم.”
هەڵوێستی ڕێکخراوی ڕۆشنبیرانی کورد لە بەریتانیا
ئێمە لە ڕێکخراوی ڕۆشنبیرانی کورد لە بەریتانیا:
ئیدانەی تەواوی ئەو هەڕەشە و گوشارانە دەکەین کە دەکرێنە سەر ڕۆژنامەنووس محەمەد فاتیح لەلایەن بەرپرسانی حکومەتی عێراق و دەزگا ئەمنییەکانەوە.
داوا لە ڕێکخراوە نێودەوڵەتییەکانی مافی مرۆڤ و داپڵۆسێنەرانی ئازادیی ڕادەربڕین دەکەین بێنە سەر هێڵ بۆ پاراستنی گیانی ئەم ڕۆژنامەنووسە.
هۆشیاری دەدەین لە بەکارهێنانی تۆمەتی سیاسی و یاسایی دروستکراو (وەک بەعسیبوون) بۆ بێدەنگکردنی دەنگە ئازادەکان و بێبەشکردنیان لە مافی ژیان و کارکردن.
