The Kurdish Intellectuals Organization participated in the commemoration of the Halabja tragedy in the city of Portsmouth.

Within the framework of honoring the symbol of Kurdish مظلومیت (oppression) and commemorating the martyrs of the chemical attack on Halabja, a high-level delegation from the Kurdish Intellectuals Organization—consisting of Dr. Gova Ahmad, President of the organization, and Aras Balbas, the Secretary—took part in the annual memorial ceremony held in Portsmouth, United Kingdom.
During the ceremony, which was organized by the Portsmouth Kurdish House, Dr. Gova Ahmad delivered a speech highlighting the dimensions of the Halabja tragedy and the suffering of the Kurdish people. As a tribute to the souls of the martyrs, our organization—the Kurdish Intellectuals Organization in Birmingham—presented a statue of Omar Khawar to Halabja Park. The statue was created by the renowned Kurdish artist and sculptor Barzan Shaza, and it will stand in the park as a symbol of the suffering endured by the Kurdish people.
It is worth mentioning that the ceremony was attended by the Deputy Mayor, the Lord Mayor, and Members of Parliament of the city. During the event, British officials reiterated their support for the legitimate cause of the Kurdish people.
Thousands of salutations to the pure souls of the martyrs of Halabja and all the martyrs of Kurdistan.
