A warm welcome was extended to the President and members of the KCO Executive Council, the Kurdish Cultural Organisation UK, at the Anfal Monument by the monument’s director.

Following our visit to the Anfal Monument and our commemoration of the Kurdish massacre, we heard hundreds of previously unheard and deeply tragic stories—stories that each represent a part of the painful history and suffering of our people.
I would like to emphasise here that the right person, a dedicated and compassionate individual, has been serving the right place. Mr. Habil has done remarkable work that truly takes you into these stories. The memories are so powerful and painful that you feel as though you are witnessing the very days and moments when the Kurdish people were subjected to the Anfal campaign.
From here, we extend our special thanks, deepest respect and appreciation to our dear elder brother, Mr. Habil. His dedication and efforts are clearly visible, and his work and commitment are truly worthy of recognition and gratitude.
At the end of the visit, it was agreed that KCO will establish an Anfal Monument project to help present and raise greater international awareness of the Anfal genocide. It was also agreed that KCO would participate in several projects commemorating Anfal in the UK and help ensure that the memory of Anfal is honoured and kept alive in several cities across Britain.
Finally, once again, thank you, Mr. Habil, for your warm and generous hospitality.
Thank you for all your efforts, dedication and commitment to preserving the memory of Anfal and sharing the history of our people with the wider world.
