A party leader’s bodyguard blocks a reporter

An incident occurred today, Tuesday, during the celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday (Mawlid) in the city of Erbil, involving a reporter from the Kurdistan Press news agency and a personal security guard of the leader of the Kurdistan Justice Group (formerly the Islamic Group).

According to field reports, while conditions were completely normal for press coverage and no special security restrictions had been announced, the Kurdistan Press reporter attempted to obtain a statement from the party leader regarding the occasion. However, in an unexpected move, one of the leader’s personal security guards attempted to push the reporter away and prevent them from carrying out their journalistic duties.

This obstruction comes at a time when media presence at such public events to cover activities and gather perspectives from political figures is routine and standard practice. As of now, no official statement has been released by the press office of the party leader regarding the security guard’s actions.

بەپێی زانیارییەکانی مەیدانی، لە کاتێکدا ڕەوشەکە تەواو ئاسایی بووە بۆ وەرگرتنی لێدوانی رۆژنامەوانی و هیچ ڕێکارێکی تایبەتی ئەمنی ڕانەگەیەندراوبوو، پەیامنێری کوردستان پرێس هەوڵی داوە لێدوانێک لە سەرۆکی حیزبی کۆمەڵ وەرگرێت سەبارەت بە یادەکە. بەڵام لە هەڵوێستێکی چاوەڕواننەکراودا، پاسەوانێکی تایبەتی سەرۆکی حیزبەکە هەوڵی داوە پەیامنێرەکە دوور بخاتەوە و ڕێگری لە ئەنجامدانی ئەرکە ڕۆژنامەوانییەکەی بکات.

ئەم ڕێگیرییە لە کاتێکدایە کە ئامادەبوونی میدیاکاران لەم جۆرە مەراسیمە گشتییانەدا بۆ ڕووماڵکردنی چالاکییەکان و وەرگرتنی ڕای کەسایەتییە سیاسییەکان کارێکی ئاسایی و بەردەوامە. تائێستا هیچ ڕوونکردنەوەیەکی فەرمی لەلایەن نووسینگەی ڕاگەیاندنی سەرۆکی کۆمەڵەوە سەبارەت بە هۆکاری ئەم هەڵسوکەوتەی پاسەوانەکە نەدراوە.
