A Cry for Freedom at BBC: Campaign to Save Sherwan Sherwani
In a bold national and humanitarian move, Aras Bilbas, Secretary of the Kurdish Intellectuals Organization (KCO), alongside activists from the “Freedom Path” organization, gathered outside the BBC News headquarters in Birmingham.
Through an official memorandum presented to BBC officials, they issued a stern warning regarding the “critical” condition of journalist Sherwan Sherwani, who has been on a hunger strike for 20 days. The memorandum emphasized that Sherwani’s life is in imminent danger and called on international media to break their silence on this human rights violation.
The delegation urged the BBC to highlight the case of this journalist, imprisoned solely for exposing corruption. BBC officials received the memorandum with respect, pledging to escalate the matter to senior management to ensure Sherwani’s voice reaches the global stage and to prevent an impending humanitarian catastrophe.
