Threats to women journalists in South Kurdistan are increasing.

Twelve women journalists have been assassinated during the Kurdish regime’s rule, and according to annual statistics, women account for 10 percent of the attacks and violence they face.

According to statistics on violations against women in 2023, 30 women were killed on charges of honor, while in 2024 the number will rise to 50 to 60 women killed.

The environment in South Kurdistan is one of the most difficult environments for the development and advancement of women, especially women journalists who are constantly subjected to psychological or physical attacks by society and the authorities.

When a journalist professionally touches on a party’s corruption, the party will confront the journalist strongly. It is still strange for society to have women journalists because we have not reached the high level to understand that women have the right to work and develop.

The number of political parties in Kurdistan is increasing. When a journalist professionally touches on a party’s corruption, the party will confront the journalist strongly, whether military or media forces.
